How do I care for my turned wood art?
Do not put in microwave, dishwasher, or direct sunlight.  Clean with mild soap and water or a damp cloth, then dry.  If finish becomes dull, apply an oil such as tung oil, walnut oil, or mineral oil and/or furniture past wax.

Can you make a wood turning for me out of a tree that I have?
Usually I can if it hasn’t been down too long. It is best if the tree is freshly fallen. As wood dries it usually cracks and becomes unusable. I have done custom turning for people who have lost sentimental trees due to storms or disease.

How long does it take to make a bowl?
That depends! Larger bowls and vases take longer than smaller bowls. The amount of time also varies with the species of wood, shape of bowl, and other factors. Generally though, it takes between 4 and 30 hours or more spread out over 4 weeks to a year. Also, see “From Tree To Gallery” page.

What is a “Hollow Form”?
Most wood turners consider a vessel that has been turned on a lathe and hollowed out though a small opening to be a hollow form.
